Cloud Native Security
Aqua Security was founded in 2015, by a core team of IT security veterans from companies such as McAfee, CA, Imperva, and Symantec. The founders realized that new cloud native technologies, such as containers and serverless, require a completely different approach to security. While traditional approaches rely on static control points and perimeters, the dynamic nature of cloud native applications, that use a microservices architecture and are developed and deployed at DevOps speeds, requires a more automated approach that spans the entire lifecycle of the application and provides controls points the protect workloads wherever they run.
Today Aqua protects large-scale business critical applications that use containers, serverless functions, VMs, Kubernetes orchestration and cloud infrastructure, supporting all popular clouds and platforms. Aqua's platform combines preventive and reactive controls to protect applications in development and runtime, detect and block attacks, and provide visibility and auditing for compliance. It has built-in integrations with CI/CD tools, SIEM, collaboration tools such as Slack and OpsGenie, and more.
Aqua has strategic partnerships with Microsoft, AWS, Google, IBM, VMware, and other key players in the cloud native ecoysystem. It is a leading member of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, and takes an active role in steering its efforts in open source projects and security. Aqua has a dedicated open source development team, with individuals around the globe. The team develops open source tools that offer developers and DevOps teams an easy way to improve the security posture and practices of their development, from vulnerability scanning to hardening Kubernetes clusters.
Aqua serves hundreds of enterprise customers, among them several of the world's top 10 banks and insurance companies, as well as some of the largest internet, software, retail, travel, pharma, energy and automotive companies.
The company has more than 260 employees worldwide, with its R&D center in Ramat Gan, Israel, and offices in the US, UK, France, Germany, Australia, Singapore, and Hyderabad, India.
To date, Aqua has raised $100M in venture funding, from TLV Partners, M12 (Microsoft Ventures), Lightspeed Venture Partners, Insight Partners, and Shlomo Kramer.
